A long weekend to sleep in November 22, 2009

Just updating on another week in Japan. This is how it goes…

Well not much going on this week. Other than work, working out, etc. You’d think Japan would be exciting. Well not during the week. At least work is starting to pick up. A bit stuck on my project but there’s a bigger problem. That is, starting this week, the big man upstairs has ordered all of us to have daily meetings at 9am. Well it does mean coming to work at 8:45. It’s not really early but it is early. I usually get to work at 9:15-30 but 30 mins does make a difference in the morning. It means I can’t make breakfast if I don’t wake up earlier enough. I also feel bad for other coworkers that have to commute far. Anyways, we’ll see how that goes.

It’s was a long weekend. With Monday off. It’s Kinrō Kansha no Hi (Labour Thanksgiving Day). Well for me, it’s means sleeping in!! Anyways, I thought with my plans with my supervisor, Goto-san, on Friday. But he was busy. So I just went to the Seika and worked out.
Saturday, I slept in. I barely had any food in the house and too tired to go out. So I just made what I could find. Later that day went to Seika and worked out. Did some window shopping at Amu and headed back home. I met up with Toan at Frespo. We did a bit of shopping. I had to look for some warm clothes and presents. Oh and Uniqlo was so packed. Huge line up. Kind of turned me of in shopping there. We ate at MosBurger. Haven’t had a good burger in a while. Later went to go watch a movie. Inglorious Basterds. It was just released in Japan. 2 months after North America. Anyways, I heard the movie had a lot of foreign languages, ie. German, French, Italian. So, lots of subtitles. Now, it is Japan but I hope there were English and Japanese subtitles. You know what? There was!!! Ahh, I was so relieved. Anywho, the movie was good. Really enjoyed it.
Sunday, I was about to head to my home church. But Noriko messaged me last minute and asked if I wanted to go to the other church. I said sure. She picked me up and headed over. I haven’t seen Noriko and been to that church in a while. So it was good to see her and go to the church. After, Noriko had to go to Tsutaya to find a CD. She couldn’t find it. So we headed to to a different mall (forgot the name). Anyways, we picked up one of her friends, Janet. Nice girl. She’s from Australia. She’s been in Japan for 5 years. Anyways, we headed to the mall. Started raining. We grabbed a late lunch. Korean food. Yum. Did some shopping. I bought some shoes. Warmer shoes. Happy I was. We also met Noriko and Janet’s English students. They teach a children’s English school. But ya, we met their parents and they offered to buy us Starbucks. It was nice of them. And it was my first time meeting them. We talked to their parents and played with their children. Later Noriko drove us back home.
Today, I got to sleep in, as today is a holiday. I had to do some work in the house. Laundry, dishes, cleaning, etc. Didn’t do much today. Just some watched some tv and went to Seika.

Not looking forward to waking up early tomorrow. Bah!!!

Korea in exactly one month!! Yaa!!

Mikey you’re turning into a buff shopaholic! haha all I see in this entry is shopping and working out at Seika haha! I would loveee to shop in Japan! Do they have markets like they do in Korea?

Are you getting used to living away from all of us? Don’t get too comfy Mr.! Hahaha

I want to share some exciting news with you! (I really should start blogging but i think i’m wayyyy too lazy to update like you do! hahaha and I suck at writing so I don’t want people to be bored outta their minds hahaha!) I found out I’m going to Vancouver in February with my company for the Olympics! We’re bringing our family show and adult show to the Olympics as part of the Cultural Olympiad and my boss asked me to come with! Wooohooo! hahah something to look forward to…finallllyyyy! hahaha and I’m also going to Los Angeles this winter to spend time with Jinhoo’s family for the new years, so it’ll be nice to get away from Toronto for a bit~

Aside from that, my life is a bore right now and the weather in Toronto isn’t getting any better so it’s sort of depressing haha! All I do is work and run. I’ve been keeping up with my runs with my partner on a weekly basis, since after the race. We’re not running as consistently, but still about twice a week? Yesterday we ran 9.2km so that felt refreshing. We’re trying to build our base so when spring training comes around, we’ll be in tip top shape haha! You should train in Japan too and then come back and do a half with me and my partner! We want to do it somewhere outside of Toronto, so it turns into a mini trip of some sort!

I also joined a co-ed basketball league this past winter. We’re on our second last game, before playoffs. I’m d-ing 6′2″ black guys! Brutal~ hahaha I’m like the tallest person on our team. I play with Susan Yang and some of her friends, but we’re like the worst team in our division haha! We’re in the intermediate div, but there wasn’t an advanced div this season because there weren’t enough teams, so all the adv teams moved to the intermediate div so we get murdered each game hahaha! I guess I’m enjoying it more cause it’s improving my stamina from running back and forth so much~ But we’re always losing by more than ten points, sometimes twenty! hahaha!

Anywho, thanks for the updates m’dear~ I’ll check more often! What time Toronto time is good to Skype? We’ll do it in Dec f’sure!!!!! Miss you mikey~ Sa-rang-hae~

@Yury: Wow you’re going to the Olympics. That sounds amazing. You’re going to have an amazing time. I always wanted to go the Olympics. I must say you have a sweet job. You travel a lot.
So Los Angelas for the new years! Sounds like it’s going to be a warm new years. I don’t know about you but this is my first time not being in home for New Years. But I know what you mean, it is nice to be away from Toronto. For me longer. hehe
That’s pretty awesome you are keeping up with your runs. I just started running in my workouts. I def not up to where you are at. I’m at like 2-3km max. But I do plan to train. There’s some marathon in Jan. I don’t think I’ll join that one because I’m late on the registration. (Edit: I registered, for a full marathon). But there’s another one in March. But ya, I’ll try my best to train hard so we can do a marathon (half-marathon most likely for me…lol) together.
Oh that’s cool, in a basketball league. LOL a 6′2″ black guy. Well at least you’ll get better. But sounds like fun. And 10 points ain’t too bad. 20 points maybe.
But as for shopping in Japan. I’d say I like the fashion here but at the same time I’m not great at picking out clothes. So ya, it’s usually just walking and glancing. There are a lot of stores here to choose from. Sort of similar to Korea. But I do live in a smaller city. If it were Tokyo, it would be a whole different story.
I’m off to Korea Dec23-Jan3. I prob won’t be going to Korea after. I’m thinking of going to Okinawa after I’m done, which is May21. Stay a week then head back home. I was planning to do summer abroad in HK but I found I have to pay for all my tuition next year. So, I gotta do summer school back at UofT and work part-time. But ya, I’d consider not doing Okinawa that week and go somewhere else, like another country. But not Korea. Only because I’m going this December and 2 times is already enough. Let me know before March. =P
As for skype, I’m usually on during the night, which is day time for you. But ya Dec for sure.
